The mini-greenhouse is finally showing signs of sprouting - but only the marigolds. This is the week that we hope to see the first signs of the nastursiums and sweet peas in the mini-greenhouse.
Blueberry seems to be always moist in the acidic soil and growing leaves nicely.
Outside the strawberries are still alive - there has been a lot of rain but also a fair amount of sun. The other plants are growing furiously and it is probably time to pot a few of the dalias and marigolds and even the arrowroot will need repotting within a few days - and that's with only a couple of days post sprouting.
This is the first week we can dare to
hope that some of the camomile tea leaves sprout - not sure if there are
any seeds in there. The rocket leaves (pic: right) resemble clover leaves and the coriander/cilantro don't look like coriander (pic: below)
In the garden, lots of things have sprouting - the aspiration is for these to turn out to be the wildflowers - the reality may well be the weeds - as already dandelions are flowering.
Apparently, we can eat the dandelion leaves - since I don't know what was in the garden I may wait till next year before I dare.
Keeping an eye for potential problem spots and signs in the garden is part of the joy of working out what needs being aware of.
Something seems to be eating the tulip bulb leaves whose buds are tightly close to the bulb and never came out - The daffodils were the only flowering bulbs. One crocus did emerge but seems to have been killed by a weed.
Found labels for basil and parsley near the strawberries so previous residents obviously had a herb garden - keeping an eye out for further signs.
